Dudley Carter solid cedar totem. Important Northwest carver born in 1891; his most important work was the “Goddess of the Forest" - a massive sculpture created by Dudley Carter from a large Redwood log, as part of the “Art in Action" program during the World’s Fair held in San Francisco in 1939. This carving was later placed into the city’s Golden Gate Park, where it remained until 1986, when it was moved to the San Francisco City College. The Goddess stands 26 feet tall and has a girth at the base of 21 feet. Plenty of additional biographical info available.
