Dimensions

Medium size plainware jar; somewhat vertically compressed body; direct to slightly everted uneven rim; lip thickened and rounded. Coil and scrape construction; clear angular quartz temper with occasional large round grains, a small quantity of temper is visible on the surface but does not protrude. Exterior is brown; smoothed with polishing. Decoration is a weak red, slip applied to exterior and inside the rim; 15% of the slip has burned off during the firing. Bottom rounded and shows use wear; exterior lower half is fire blackened; interior bottom is smooth from cooking activitiy. The shape and slip on this bowl is reminiscent of Chihuahuan Mogollon vessls found to the south. Found in Grant County, new Mexico. Undamaged condition. This item is guaranteed to be of the time period and condition as described, has been exported legally and is legal to buy and sell under all international laws relating to cultural patrimony.
