Western Fur Trade

The western fur trade took place over a roughly 30-year period from 1807-1843. During this time a fearless and often heroic breed of men explored every stream and valley, blazing trails through the wilderness in a quest for adventure and wealth. Ciscos collection of fur trade items include hand-forged traps, long guns, powder horns, fire starters, and other tools essential to a rugged western lifestyle built around the harvesting of fur bearing animals. Additionally, our Hudson Bay Company pieces include flamboyant attire such as assumption sashes and trade silver commonly worn at rendezvous.
