(1859-1934) "Mountain Scene with Stag Calling" untitled by John Fery. Oil on canvas 23 3/4" x 31 3/4" framed 28 1/2" x 36 1/2". Early 20th Century. John Fery (born Johann Nepomuk Levy) was an Austrian Empire-born painter, known for his works of the Western United States. He was a painter of outdoor scenes, whose largest customer was the Great Northern Railway. His works were large format, often over one hundred square feet. Fery's paintings were hung in train stations and other places, promoting travel, particularly to Glacier National Park. John artistry is a testament to the beauty and wonder of nature, as well as the power of resilience and perseverance. His incredible journey to America and his ability to continually adapt in order to make a living for himself and his family is a story of true dedication to his craft. Fery's work is a significant part of the American West's cultural heritage, and his legacy continues to inspire artists and nature enthusiasts.
