Henry Buehman studio photo of three men taken in Tucson, Arizona Territory, late 1880s to early 1900s. Henry Buehman was a German-born American photographer and politician. After finishing his apprenticeship, Buehman moved to the American West, where he worked and traveled before settling in Tucson, Arizona Territory. There, he bought a portrait studio and built a profitable photography business. Buehman's frequent treks to the surrounding locations allowed him to build a huge portfolio of scenic and Native American images in addition to his portrait work. His success as a photographer led to opportunities in other sectors, and Buehman eventually became Tucson's mayor from 1895 to 1899. Buehman died of pneumonia on December 19, 1912. This photo shows three men in Buehman's studio in Tucson, Arizona Territory posing for a group photo. The men on the left and right are seated while the man in the middle is standing. They are nicely dressed with blazers, pocket watches, top hats, bow ties and boots. The bottom of the photo is marked reading, "Buehman Studios / Tucson, A.T.". The photo shows good condition overall with some wear present from its age and use over the years, but no signs of major damage is noted. It measures 6 1/2" L x 4 1/4" W and weighs under 6 ounces.
