Early 19th Century half stock percussion rifle. Cleaning rod appears to be original to the piece. Long barrel .38 cal. Half-stock percussion rifle. 38” octagon barrel. Buckhorn sites rear and matching blade front site. Engraved lockplate displays a pheasants/scroll work. Double set triggers. Stock is curly maple and is fitted with a brass butt plate. Filled with a brass cap box. Opposite butt side is a silver oval plate (left side). Finely engraved trigger guard. Triggers function properly. Deeply aged barrel is fitted with twin triangles attached under rifle. All metal surfaces show heavy use and pitting. Wood has been professionally refinished. A rifle that shows heavy frontier usage. This type of rifle was used by frontiersman in the late fur trade era, as well as pioneers. Rifle weighs 10 lbs. A fine example of a true period piece. All parts of rifle are original to the piece. Cleaning rod appears to be original. Barrel 39" overall 54"
